The Grand Canal hotel is inspired by Venetian architecture. “Grand Canal, owned by Abu Dhabi National Hotels, constructed on the sea coast, will add a new dimension to green tourism and will be considered one of the most beautiful touristic resorts not just in the UAE but also in the Gulf and the Arab region,” said Al Hajri at the Gulf Travel and Incentives Exhibition and Conference at Adnec, Abu Dhabi.

He also announced that ADNH will open Park Hyatt hotel on Saadiyat Island in the first quarter of 2011, and added: “The company will not defer any of the projects agreed upon, for [it has] full conviction that there is a promising future awaiting the tourism industry in Abu Dhabi and the UAE.”

Al Hajri announced that ADNH is currently studying the possibility of setting up desert resorts in Abu Dhabi, which should “attract many tourists from Europe”.

The chairman said he expected to see a sharp rise in the number of tourists and visitors in the summer of 2011 and 2012 because of the expected growth in the global economy during that period.
