Staying close to customers a winning recipe for Teka

Kitchen appliances literally took centre stage at the Jumeirah Beach Hotel on Thursday night at a gala dinner hosted by the German kitchen appliance and sink manufacturer Teka Kϋchentechnik.

More than 500 of the company’s customers, partners and VIP guests attended the dinner including Spain’s Ambassador to the UAE, H.E. Gonzalo de Benito Secades, and the Executive Managing Director of Nakheel Southern Projects, Marwan Al Qamzi.

The event celebrated the success of Teka’s focus on strong customer partnerships which has helped it prosper in GCC markets despite the downturn in residential construction. According to Managing Director of Teka Kϋchentechnik UAE, Arturo Manso, “2009 was a difficult year but, for Teka, it was a year of opportunity.

“Teka has worked hard to be as flexible and supportive as possible during this time. By staying close to our clients and understanding their issues we have maintained and grown a loyal customer base in the Middle East,” Mr. Manso said.

As a result, Teka has recently completed projects worth more than $12 million, including kitchen installations for Dubai’s Marina Mall & Hotel Apartments, Jumeirah Village, Golf Towers 3 & 4 at The Views, the Grandeur Residences at Palm Jumeirah and The Pearl Qatar.

With a new office recently opened in Abu Dhabi, Teka has already taken on new projects worth more than $8 million, including Aldar’s Al Muneera development at Al Raha Beach and Emaar’s Burj Khalifa precinct in Dubai.

Arturo Manso believes Teka is now poised for further growth. “We have a substantial number of new dealers and, compared our competitors, Teka now has the biggest network in the UAE,” Mr. Manso said. “In addition, many new projects have chosen Teka for their kitchen installations.”

Teka’s products were showcased on Thursday night with a virtuoso cooking demonstration by Chef Raydan Bou. The culinary fireworks featured a Teka-equipped kitchen set up on stage in the Jumeirah Beach Hotel Safina ballroom with unique and exclusive products such as the Copa-60 glass sink with LED light kit and electronic mixer, the new Expression induction hobs with slider touch control sensor and the multi-function Combo oven.

A highlight of the event was the presentation of the 2010 Teka UAE Football Cup to Nakheel, together with a winner’s cheque for AED 35,000. An annual tournament for staff and customers, the Teka Cup has evolved into the UAE’s premier corporate football event.

For Arturo Manso and his team, the Teka UAE Football Cup has been instrumental in helping to cement off-field relationships with their customers and partners. “The Cup is now firmly established on our sporting calendar and it’s an initiative which we’re now looking to export from the UAE to other Teka markets around the football-playing world,” Mr. Manso said.
